Official: Turkish tomatoes may return to Russian market from Dec 1
SOCHI, Oct 18 (PRIME) -- Russia and Turkey have come to a principal agreement to supply 50,000 tonnes of tomatoes from four Turkish facilities from December 1, a co-chairman of an intergovernmental commission Alexander Novak said on Wednesday.
“There is a principal agreement to prepare a legislative base so that imports of 50,000 tonnes of tomatoes from four Turkish facilities could be started from December 1… Adjustments to the legislative base are needed, and the documents are under approval now,” he said.
The commission will meet on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said that Russia could permit importing about 50,000 tonnes of tomatoes from Turkey off-season, from December through April.
